Stan Hywet will ‘Deck the Hall’

“Deck the Hall” returns to Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, 714 N. Portage Path, Akron.

The estate will be illuminated with 800,000 lights. New offerings include an animated bake shop window in the courtyard and an life-sized animatronic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. The manor house will be decorated to reflect the theme “A Storybook Christmas.” “Dazzle,” a light show set to music, features three new songs. Different musical acts will be featured each night.

“Deck the Hall” runs 5 to 8 p.m. today, Saturday, Sunday and Dec. 1-4, 8-23 and 26-30. Admission is $22 for adults and $9 for children ages 6 to 17 Fridays and Saturdays and $18 and $7 Monday through Thursday. For more information, call 330-836-5533.

Railroad group hosts Whistle Blow

The Mahoning Valley Railroad Heritage Association will have its annual Whistle Blow 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at B&O Station, 530 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown.

Those who own steam-powered train whistles can hook up to the system (with steam provided by Youngstown Thermal and whistle manifold supplied by Eagle Mechanical) for a $20 donation. Those attending can give the whistles a toot for a $1 donation.
