Organ recital planned

Organist Alan Morrison performs Sunday on the E.M. Skinner pipe organ at Stambaugh Auditorium.

Morrison, who has degrees from both he Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School of Music, has a versatile career as an organist, teacher, recording artist, adjudicator and pianist / chamber musician. He is the head of the organ departments at both The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he holds the Haas Charitable Trust Chair in Organ Studies, and Westminster Choir College of Rider University, where he is associate professor of organ. He also is the college organist at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa.

He is a regular performer at The Kimmel Center, where he also serves as an artistic adviser. He is a founding member of the award-winning Orlando Chamber Soloists. In 2013, he represented the United States as the only American judge and recitalist for the 27th St. Alban’s International Organ Festival and Competition.

The concert starts at 7 p.m. Sunday at Stambaugh, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens and are available online at or call 330-259-0555.
