The family of Don and Jane Harnett of Vernon is hosting a card shower in honor of the couple’s 70th anniversary Tuesday. Don Harnett and the former Jane Fair were married Oct. 16, 1948, at the Orangeville Methodist Church by the Rev. John Freiling. Don was employed as a truck driver and also enjoyed farming all his life. Jane is a homemaker and worked briefly at the Westinghouse, Palmer Tax Service and Cortland Bank. The couple have six children, Don (decease), Doug (Judy), Greg (deceased), Mike (Sharina), Steve (Denise) and Ruthann. Their family also includes 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
