RETIREES TO MEET: St. Joseph Warren Hospital Retirees will resume their monthly breakfast meetings at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Wayside Restaurant. Guests are asked to bring nonperishable items for the food bank.

717 RETIREES TO MEET: Local 717 Retirees meeting will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the union hall. Guest speaker is Ralph Pfingsten, who will be speaking on the history of the Ravenna Arsenal. All 717 retirees and their guests are welcome.

YARN NEEDED: Area SCOPE Centers are in need of yarn and fabric for their needle arts programs. Yarn can be delivered to any SCOPE or call for pickup at 330-399-8846.

FALL PREVENTION GUIDE: The Ohio Department of Public Safety Division of EMS joined with the Ohio Injury Prevention Partnership and released an updated Elderly Fall Prevention Resource Guide for EMS providers and the general public. This guide contains county and regional information for community-based programs relating to exercise and balance improvement, wellness, medical equipment and well-being checks.

Fall Prevention Awareness Week will kick off Saturday. During this time, fall prevention coalitions, health care providers and senior service agencies will hold presentations, health fairs, screenings and workshops to raise awareness among older adults and their families and caregivers, elder care professionals, and the general public about the seriousness of falls and ways to reduce fall risk.

NUTRITION SITES AVAILABLE: The Trumbull County Nutrition Program for the Elderly is provided by the Trumbull County Office of Elderly Affairs and operates nutrition sites at seven locations in the county. Meals will be delivered to county residents 60 and older who are homebound, unable to cook for themselves and not living with someone who can cook for them. Client donations are accepted. The menu is:

TODAY: Beef roast with gravy, wheat bread, whipped potatoes, mixed vegetables, pineapple tidbits and brownie.

MONDAY: Chicken cordon bleu sandwich, parmesan potatoes, carrots, Mandarin oranges and mini muffin.

TUESDAY: BBQ pulled pork, sandwich bun, baked beans, summer corn and seasonal fruit.

WEDNESDAY: Cold chicken cobb salad, wheat bread, mixed greens with ranch dressing, cucumbers and tomatoes, peaches and orange dream cake.

THURSDAY: Baked haddock with wine sauce over confetti rice, dinner roll, broccoli, cauliflower, mixed fruit and cookie.

SEPT. 28: Meatballs and sauce over pasta with sauce, Italian bread, Italian green beans, Ceasar salad with dressing, applesauce and ice cream.

SCOPE RIDES: SCOPE and the Trumbull County Transit Board provide seniors 60 and older free rides to and from the centers 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekends and holidays. Call the center directly three days in advance of the desired trip.

TMM NEEDS VOLUNTEERS: Trumbull Mobile Meals, a community-based service agency dedicated to providing a home-delivered meal service to Trumbull County residents who are homebound, needs volunteers to help deliver meals.

TMM uses 45 to 50 volunteers to prepare, package and deliver meals to more than 200 individuals on a daily basis. People can volunteer as infrequently as once a month.

• This month will kick off the fall food drive. All proceeds will help the Emmanuel Care Center supply food to the local community. The center is collecting nonperishable food items until Sept. 28. There will be a drawing for those who participate. The winner will be announced at the annual apple cookoff Oct. 2, which is open to the public.

SENIOR CENTER: Ohio Living Home Health and Hospice Senior Center, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, offers chair yoga 1 p.m. Fridays. Call 330-744-5071.

LORDSTOWN SCOPE: Rear of Lordstown Elementary School, 1776 Salt Springs Road, Lordstown, 330-824-2173. Open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The center is looking for seniors 55 and older who are interested in playing mahjong. Lessons will be available for beginners. The center is also looking for card players for pinochle, hand and foot, and euchre. A Mexican train dominos group is also being formed. Beginners are welcome.
