GRANT FOR TREATMENT CENTER: The Trumbull County Mental Health and Recovery Board and FSR Parkman — a new Warren-based 16-bed detox and treatment center set to open in February — have received a $250,000 one-time grant from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

Located at 4930 Enterprise Drive in Warren, FSR Parkman will allocate the grant funds to pay for staff, rent, utilities, food, supplies, maintenance and repair of the new facility.

Owned by Scott Wilkes, FSR Parkman will be open to the public Feb. 19, and will deliver effective, individualized addiction services that follow the trusted, evidence-based treatment model used by First Step Recovery.

First Step Recovery, a Warren-based detox and treatment center, opened in 2015.

In addition to 16 detox beds, FSR Parkman will provide addiction treatment services such as individual, group and family counseling, relapse prevention, case management and 12-step meetings.

VOLUNTEER TRAINING: Mercy Health – Hospice of the Valley will host training classes for hospice volunteers 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 3 and 10, at Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland. Preregistration, fingerprints and background checks are mandatory for those seeking this required training.

GRIEF SHARE: Churchill United Methodist Church, 189 Churchill Hubbard Road, Liberty, will once again offer Grief Share to all who have had a loss in their lives. The program will be 6 p.m. Thursdays through April 19, in the church parlor on the second floor of the educational building.

DUAL-DIAGNOSIS CONNECTIONS: National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Mahoning Valley announces a new Connections support group for adults dealing with mental health and substance abuse issues. Lead by a NAMI-trained individual who is living in mental health and substance abuse recovery, the group meets 6 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at the Community Center, 1344 Fifth Ave., Youngstown.
