SCREENING EVENT TODAY: Mercy Health – Youngstown introduces a new summer screening event, 4 to 7 p.m. today, in collaboration with St. Patrick’s Church. The event will bring screenings, health information, a rigatoni dinner and grocery giveaways to underserved members of the community, especially the un- or under-insured who don’t have access to important preventive health services.

The screening event, to be held at St. Patrick’s Church, 1410 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown, will offer access to BMI, blood pressure, bone density, dental, mammography and prostate screenings, free rigatoni dinner and grocery giveaways.

In addition to screenings, participants can also gain access to information about programs that can contribute to their overall health and wellbeing.

Community members who are in need of transportation to the event can make arrangements for a Catholic Charities shuttle service by calling 330-480-3405. Participants must pre-register for prostate screenings by calling 330-480-3405 and for a mammogram by calling 330-480-2654.

MS GROUP TO MEET: Courage, Hope and Faith MS Support Group meets 6 to 8 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month at the Knights of Columbus Warren Council, 1947 E. Market St., Warren.

LUPUS SUPPORT GROUP: The Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter will host its monthly Trumbull/Mahoning County support group from 6 to 7:30 p.m. July 11 at Panera Bread, 5675 Youngstown Warren Road, Niles.

The support group is an open, small-group environment that encourages discussion among lupus patients and their families. It is a place where persons with lupus can share their experiences and ask questions. Most discussions focus on the “how-to’s” of living with a chronic illness. It is a safe place for people to learn, share and help.

OSTOMY SUPPORT: The Youngstown area Ostomy Support Group meets from 6 to 7 p.m. July 11, at Humility House, 755 Ohltown Road, Austintown.

The support group provides a safe, caring place to tell your story among people who understand and share your experiences and feelings.

Family members and people considering an ostomy are also welcome. The group offers education, encouragement and support to anyone whose life is affected by an ostomy.

AWARENESS VOLUNTEERS: Solace of the Valley is looking for volunteers to share education on addiction. The Trumbull County Smart Recovery Group is held 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays at Howland Glen Elementary School. This is an alternative to the 12-step program.

Also, a Healing Hearts Group meets 6 p.m. Mondays at Grace Church for anyone who has lost someone to an overdose.

WELLNESS CLINICS: Shepherd of the Valley is offering wellness clinics at each of its Trumbull and Mahoning County locations. Each site will provide a nurse to check blood pressure and blood glucose levels, 10 to 11 a.m.:
